Santa is not the only one delivering this season
Every year, MX Logistics is extremely proud to partner with the organization responsible for a very large percentage of holiday decor and lighting displayed on major tourist attractions throughout Manhattan, for people from all walks of life and around the world.
It reminds us why we love doing what we do best. It’s a small role but one that brings joy to millions and this year, I had the opportunity to experience that work firsthand alongside Jorge, one of our local CDL drivers, during what we proudly call The Snow Angel Project.
Driving and hauling holiday magic
The goal of the project is to help transport holiday decorations that bring the magic of the holidays to life at the Rockefeller Center in Manhattan. This year’s freight included snow mounds, candy canes and the Snow Angels.
We left from MX Logistics’ headquarters in Piscataway, New Jersey around 3:00 p.m., arriving at the client’s location shortly after 4:00 p.m. The loading crew was already prepared. As always, our role is not to handle freight directly, but to ensure that the shipping equipment is properly secured using bars/load-locks, straps, pads/blankets. Once the load was fully secured and the Bill of Lading was signed, we were on our way.
Driving a 53-foot truck into Manhattan is an experience on its own. The route took us north over the George Washington Bridge, through the Bronx and then straight down from the very top of Manhattan to around 45th Street. We arrived at the delivery location at 10:00 p.m.

Midnight in Manhattan
The city was alive. Union crews were ready to unload the decorations using heavy machinery and tourists filled the sidewalks, bundled up in coats and enjoying the winter night. People stopped, watched and asked questions as the holiday installations began to take shape. In that moment, we weren’t just delivering freight, MX Logistics was a part of the show.
Once the job was completed, we wrapped up and headed back to headquarters, arriving just after 1:00 a.m. The work didn’t stop there. Another driver was already scheduled to pick up the next load at 4:00 a.m., with additional deliveries set for early morning installation. Projects like this require precision, coordination and dedication!
What impressed me most was Jorge’s driving. He was incredibly knowledgeable about the bridges surrounding Manhattan, sharing insightful details about the tolls, height and weight restrictions permitted into the city. He knew the routes by memory and didn’t require GPS to guide him. Despite the hectic streets of New York, Jorge drove carefully, stayed under the speed limit and handled the 53′ liftgate trailer with precision. In my book, Jorge is an absolute expert driver.
